2nd Advent - Eva Kaderli
Dec 8, 2024
Today, we would like to share a text written by Eva, a long time friend of our organization and active in the member group Zwischenraum:
Today we are celebrating the 2nd of Advent. Yet as we light these lights, many arepreoccupied with worries, fears or losses. Advent reminds us that even in dark times, the light of hopeshines in times of crisis. This hope is so important right now in our world, but has also always beensince Jesus birth in the stable.
During Advent, we can also reflect on the community that supports us in difficult times. Many of usexperience the European Forum as such a community
Candlelight shining in the darkness symbolizes the hope that we carry within us and that we can share with one another.
We need one another. Sharing stories, supporting others and celebrating small successes can help uskeep hope alive, even when we are in the midst of crises. Advent thus becomes a time when we learnthat hope and crisis are not opposites, but part of a larger life cycle that allows us to grow and becomestronger.
Let us all light candles on the 10th of december, the day of human rights, and think and pray foreach other!
During Advent, the light of candles is often lit, symbolizing hope and peace. This duality can be a powerfulexperience. The darkness of crisis can make us more aware of and appreciate the small rays of light.
Hope can flash in the most unexpected moments, even when circumstances are difficult.
Let us not loose hope because God is with us and showed their love in sending Jesus to earth!
Jesus went through many challenging experiences. This realization can help us face life's challengeswith more faith, serenity and confidence.
At last I would like to share some words from my favourite Advent Book, the so called “World's BestTime” by Christina Brudereck
Heaven greets the earth. Word truly becomes human. With skin and hair. Lungs, big heart.
A newborn takes over. Brother human out of love. Liberated. Bliss. Night becomes Christmas.
Christmas sometimes seems somehow inappropriate. But maybe it comes just in time.
