The European Forum of LGBTI+ Christian Groups is looking for a FUNDRAISER (part time; remote)
The European Forum of LGBTI+ Christian Groups is an ecumenical association of LGBTI+ Christian groups in Europe. It aims to achieve equality and inclusion for LGBTI+ people within and through Christian churches and other religious bodies and multilateral organisations. With over 40 member groups from more than 20 countries in Europe, the European Forum works for freedom of religion for LGBTI+ people, for human rights, for the dignity of LGBTI+ people and for an affirmative discourse on human sexuality.
The European Forum of LGBT+ Christian Groups is increasingly acknowledged and appreciated as the organisation that raises the voice of the queer people of faith in political and religious spaces. Thanks to the support of international donors, we are once again able to spread our advocacy, capacity-building and networking activities. However, for our successful operations we need a more sustainable financial situation. In order to strengthen our fundraising activities and bring in funding for the future work of the organisation, we are looking for a qualified and passionate person to join us as our Fundraiser.
This contract is offered for 7 months (February-August 2025), ca. 10 hrs per week, with a monthly contract fee of 1400 EUR (gross, with the contracted person operating remotely and being responsible for taxes and social security payments in their country of residence).
The key task for the Fundraiser would be attracting larger grant funds (European Commission grant mechanisms, other major donors etc.) – researching, preparing (in liaison with the Board) and submitting at least three grant applications for 2025 onwards. Extension of the contract and fee increase (to include grant management and reporting duties) are possible, subject to the success of the grant application process and Fundraiser’s work.
In terms of primary responsibilities, the candidate we are looking for will:
- have previous experience as a fundraiser, including successfully writing grant proposals and securing large grants, as well as working with the European Commission grant mechanisms;
- have good organisational skills and experience in working under their own initiative to strict deadlines;
- have good research skills to collect information on potential donors, manage and update databases to record donors’ contacts and priorities;
- have good communication and networking skills and intercultural sensitivity to establish and maintain relations with potential partners and donors and raise awareness of the European Forum and its work;
- have the ability to work strategically, aligning the fundraising work with the overall strategy and priorities of the organisation, making risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success.
In terms of other general expertise, the selected candidate will:
- have experience in working in a voluntary work environment;
- have sound knowledge in the field of LGBTI+ human rights, especially in challenging contexts, with understanding of intersectionality issues;
- knowledgeable of the situation of LGBTI+ people of faith in Europe and of the general religious landscape in Europe;
- be sympathetic to the aims of the European Forum;
- be able to communicate well in both written and spoken English;
- be aware of confidentiality requirements of the work.
Additional qualities and experience that would be an advantage:
- having experience in project development and budgeting, as well as grant management and reporting (financial and narrative) – for potential additional responsibilities under the contract extension;
- knowledge of other European languages.
Tasks of the selected Fundraiser will include:
- creating fundraising activities plan for 2025;
- researching and mapping potential donors;
- writing funding proposals (not less than 3 major applications in 2025);
- co-operating closely with the Board of the European Forum and reporting regularly to a designated Board member;
- liaising with the Executive Officer and other specialists contracted by the European Forum currently or in the future.
